“Paris is always a good idea” – Audrey Hepburn
Paris must be a dream which every girl has….well I can surely say for mine Paris has been a really special dream. I was so fascinated by French culture, I learned French myself, saw French movies and even one time desperately wanted to go and settle down in Paris !!
Well my husband knew my dream and when we planned for an Europe trip this year, our first stop was Paris. We spent 3 mesmerizing days in Paris which I will cherish through my life. I am going to tell you the experience of my first day in Paris here and also will give you tips to make your dream vacation a perfect one.
Day 1
“Welcome to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport” – The announcement brought a big smile to my face and within an hour or so I somehow forgot all my fatigue of long 8 hours flight from Toronto. We checked into our Airbnb, got ready and was out in the beautiful Parisian streets.
Our first stop was Cathédrale de Notre-Dame, the symobolic heart of Paris. Napoléon was crowned here, and kings and queens exchanged marriage vows before this altar. Churches have always been a place where I find my mental serenity, where I can find my soul. This place gave me the same experience added to it were the titanic long ceilings, gorgeous architecture and drawings on the walls. A warm sunlight coming through the multi-colored glass windows, vintage classy chandeliers and hundreds of candle lights on the sides made the place a calm beautiful delight. I sat down for some time and made my prayers. When we came out I found that the real highlights are the exterior architectural details and the unforgettable view of Paris.
I was so indulged in the church’s beauty that never realized the beautiful small cafe my husband has brought me to until the owner came to us and asked “Qu’est ce que je peux vous servir?”. Looking at my husband’s confusing face, I gladly answered ” Peut-on obtenir des crêpes?”. I love crepes but mainly have tried sweet ones but there I tried a savory one and it was yummy. We then shared a sweet one too and you must must try crepes when you are in Paris, it’s the best there.
If you ask me about the best thing in Paris I will say it’s the streets with the artistic shops/boutique and at every step you will something artistic. We walked through the streets. went to a beautiful cake shop. brought a small cake cause it was my BIRTHDAY too. When I asked hubby where we gonna cut it, he said “Surprise”.\
Paris and shopping always go together and how can I not shop when I am in the fashion capital of the world. While some people fear that shopping in Paris is expensive. believe me it’s not…you just need to know where Parisians go. There is a street named Rue De Commerce where there are lines of small boutiques which have the exclusive collection and within budget too. I bought some beautiful tops and a nice dress and ohh I was happy !!
Next we went to a cruise on the Seine river which runs through the heart of Paris. It was thrilling to see the whole city on the 2 sides. We saw love birds spending time in the afternoon sitting on the side of the river. It reminded us of our old days during college when me and my husband started our love journey. They correctly call it “The City of Love”.
Our last stop was the one and only Eiffel Tower. We walked towards it and it was nice to see the tower from tiny to big to enormous taking snaps as we go. It’s not shame to say that I did see before my trip how all my blogger friends took the pics near Eiffel…kissing it, holding it from side, holding in my palms, we both kissing it from 2 sides and so many and you should do it too. We went up the tower and the whole city from above was so stunning.
After we went down we had to wait an hour for tower lights. It was drizzling and it was so soothing to watch the tower, the raindrops with the neon lights around. Then just before the lights start we went to the lawn in front of the tower. My husband arranged the cake with candles and I cut my cake when the lights started flashing. I can just remember that sight through my whole life. What a birthday celebration and what a way to end our day!! I hope you got a lot of ideas to do when you are in Paris and I will write my other 2 days experience in my next posts.
Paris dress idea
When you are in Paris, you should dress classy with vivid colors, after all its a life time picture when you stand in front of the Eiffel. So I did research a lot and bought this beautiful dress I am wearing from a website called “boutique 1861”. It has a huge collection and you would like to buy every dress you see there. The quality is also very good and they do have a excellent customer service. If you are in Montreal, then you can visit their store.
Please find the link of the site and dress I bought:

Paris Makeup idea
A simple but elegant makeup was needed to match with the dress which I did. The makeup should not be too much that it grabs attention more than the dress which is the reason I skipped eye-shadows but you can use a light one if you want.
Here is what I used to get this look:
Foundation: Bobby Brown
Concealer: Nars
Face Powder: Rimmel
Lipstick: Lakme
Kajol: Mark Jacobs
Paris bag idea
A beautiful dress and make up goes unnoticed until accompanied by a gorgeous bag. When you are in Paris where every 1 out of 3 girl carries a Chanel or YSL, you must to get a special one before you go there. I bought a Michael Kors which you can see me carrying in the pictures. I like the black color because it is elegant and matches with everything. Please find the link below of the bag I took:
Not exact but Similar Bag:

I will create a separate posts to tell you more on the each of the makeup products, dress and bag later.
