A Magical Adventure at Disneyland Paris

Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age and dreams are forever – Walt Disney

Hi Loves,

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017 everyone. This is my first post of this year and very dear one!! My Paris journey has been so exciting and I cherish them so much that I can’t stop talking about it. So here I am again with my 3rd and last day with a magical adventure at Disneyland Paris. You can read my first and second day experiences in my previous posts “That Neon Girl in Paris” and “A Romantic Stroll through Paris” in my blog to read my whole Paris experience.  I would adore this day all through my life because in this day I went back to my childhood and cherished everything like a 5 year old girl in the stunning world of colorful cartoons. Yes you are correct, it’s all about DISNEYLAND.

It’s for ALL

I was a little skeptical about this day knowing Disneyland is mainly for kids but I was proved so wrong, it is equally enjoyable for adults too. It is correct what Walt Disney himself once said that Disney’s success rested in part on creating “a believable world of dreams that appeals to all age groups.”

We started early morning with a train ride from Paris which took around 1 hour. I cherished my French bagel breakfast in the train with the beautiful scenery outside. Once we reached the destination, we saw in front of us a giant line at the gate. Don’t panic, it’s usual no matter what day you go. Try the weekdays because it is a little less crowdy. Another important thing which we did was to buy the tickets online before going, for which it did not take much time to enter. Once we were inside the vivid and colorful world of Mickey, Mini and Goofy left me in awe.

Another important thing to do is to read the map thoroughly before going and plan ahead which rides to target and in what order else you will be just lost. I researched the best rides for adults and I have listed down the experience below. Keep in mind there are numerous other rides which are good for children and I have also avoided a few risky roller coasters because I have a little motion sickness and the last thing I wanted to do is to throw up in front of all the children.

Disneyland Paris is divided into 2 parks – Walt Disney Studios park and Disneyland Park

Walt Disney Studios park

Start with this park first because it is smaller and try to finish in the morning. Another important aspect to try is the fast pass. Some of the popular rides do attract a huge crowd, so you can take a fast pass which will give you a time slot later in the day when you can come back and enter with minimal waiting.

The rides mentioned below are organized in the same order we took them to avoid more walking. I have also given primary and secondary options. The primary ones are must do and you can try the secondary ones if you have time. I have also given approximate time taken including the wait. Always keep a track of the watch or you will miss the later good ones.

Primary

Ratatoulle: The Adventure (Fastpass) (1 Hour): Although it was my first ride and I can definitely say it was the best one. A beautiful 3D ride where you will shrink to the size of a mouse and scuttle around Bistrot Chez Ramy looking for food and running from the workers. The technology, effects and storytelling is so heart pounding and it left me scream in joy.

Toon Plaza (20 min): Stop here to take a few snaps with Mickey and Mini. Read the timing beforehand when they will be present. I felt like a little child while taking snaps and heart filled with childish joy of achievement.

The twilight zone tower of terror (Fastpass) (30 min): You can feel the chill as soon as you enter this haunted hotel and step into a cursed lift which will take you up and down 13 unlucky floors. My stomach started to tickle with free falls and the ghost sighting at different floors. Be careful if you are sensitive to free falls.

Studio Tram Tour: Behind the Magic (45 min): I step aboard this relaxing and comfortable train ride which took me through the sets of famous films with large explosions, flood or shark attack. It was really thrilling to get the experience of being inside the sets of such famous movies.

Secondary

There are many more interesting rides in this park like Armageddon, Aerosmith (Scary!!), Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop, RC Racer and Moteurs. You can surely try them if you are there more than one day but I was there for one day so comparing to the other rides in the next park, I choose to skip them.

Disneyland Park

This is the bigger park with whole lots of attractions, parades, fireworks and what I did was to set an order so that we can walk less and see more. The rides are mentioned below in that order. This park is separated into 4 lands as you see below.

Frontier land

Primary

Phantom Manor (30 min) – This was a scary escapade in a haunted house with eerie sounds, stretching rooms, bending mirrors and moving portraits. It has an fascinating story and a thrilling buggy ride which made me pale with horror!!

Secondary

Big thunder Mountain (Fastpass): Scary!!

Thunder Mesa riverboat Landing

Meet and greet with Merida at Cowboy Cookout Barbeque and Princess Tania at Mesa Riverboat Landing. See the timings beforehand in Disneyland Paris website.

Discoveryland

Primary

Buzz Lightyear Lazer blast (Fastpass) (45 min): Very challenging ride with 3D laser shooting. It is more for the boys so it was not so appealing to me.

Secondary

Autopia ( 1 Hr)

Space Mountain (Fastpass) (1 Hr): Scary!!

Les mystères du nautilus (10min)

Meet and Greet with Donald at Town Square near Discovery Arcade at Main Street USA

Fantasyland

Primary

It’s a small world (15 min): This was my 2nd best ride in Disney!! It was a slot sinuous boat ride with displays of so cute and colorful dolls from around the world singing and dancing around you. I felt like I travelled the whole magical world in a journey I would always treasure.

Le Pays des Contes de Fées (10 min): A colorful boat ride through the enchanting realm of Disney’s Storybook Land. As you gracefully make your way past hills and through valleys, discover a dazzling assortment of charming homes and villages from classic Disney movies, beautifully rendered in miniature scale.

Secondary

Casey Jr. – Le Petit Train du Cirque (30 min): A nice small train ride through a Disney inspired valley and a good vintage point with the spectacular view around.

Alice’s Curious Labyrinth

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Meet Mickey Mouse

Peter Pan’s Flight (Fastpass)

Princess Pavilion

Adventure Land

Primary

Pirates of the Caribbean (45 min): This was my 3nd best ride. I just set sail in this dingy alleyways of a battle-scarred fortress with displays of pirates drunk and fighting with an equal amount horrifying skeletal remains of fallen pirates. I just sang along with the pirates with the legendary, ‘Yo Ho, Yo Ho’.

Secondary

Indiana Jones and the temple of Peril (Fastpass) (30 min): It is very famous and I put my courage and went aboard this roller coaster. Halfway through the ride I understood my mistake, it was very scary. The whole set up was exellent but only for people with strong heart!!

Le Passage Enchante d’Alladin

Fantasyland

Primary

Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains ( 1 Hr): It was a mini cart ride through the magical lands of Snow White. The story felt so vivacious with all characters being put around and the story unfolding like a mystery.

Les voyages de pinocchio (1Hr): I step aboard a cute wooden car and started this adventurous journey to witness Pinocchio dance and sing to become a real boy along with puppets. Again storytelling was the best and the light and shadow work was eye-catching.

Disney Land Parade

It happens Corner of Adventureland and Frontierland with castle on left and adventureland on back. See the timing beforehand and go and take a place 30 min before else you will not get a good view. I had so much of enjoyment seeing this and taking pictures. All Disney characters dancing and singing in a parade which really made me dance on my feet. It is a MUST see!

Disney Dreams

It was perfect ending for a magical adventure at Disneyland Paris. The beautiful light show on the castle along with sounds and fireworks is undoubtedly the best I have seen in my ENTIRE LIFE. It was such a treat to the eye that at one time I just stopped taking pictures. The sound, effects, cinematography, fireworks all together in an soothing performance left me really in awe. I am sure in my old age when I reminisce about my good moments this will be one of them. Another MUST see.

Food

Food is a little costly inside but it is part of the experience. There are awesome Disney character inspired restaurants while some with live shows which you will love. We did a lunch at Walt’s and both the food and the decor was fabulous.
