Bobbi Brown Calypso Vs Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick
Lips without lipstick are like cakes without frosting
Why do women wear lipstick? Have you ever thought of this while putting on that bright red color on your lips. I think lipstick is something which gives a woman confidence on whatever she does. Sweeps of vibrant colors on the lips erases self-doubt and gives the boost of poise to put you on charge. I heard of one woman who put on red lipstick before giving birth because it made her feel strong. Yes that is the power of a lipstick. But how did Lipstick became such a powerful tool for women. In order to know that let’s dive a little bit into history of lipsticks.
History of lipstick
In the long prehistoric periods, lipsticks were made only from readily available natural sources – fruit and plant juices. As early civilizations started appearing in the Middle East, North Africa and India, advanced manufacturing processes enabled mankind to finally start producing new kinds of lipsticks. First ones to do so were Mesopotamian women, who grind out precious gems and used their dust to decorate their lips with glimmer and riches. Women from Indus Valley Civilization used lipstick regularly, but it was Egypt where manufacture of lipstick received many advancements. It was there that carmine color became popular, extracted from the bodies of cochineal insects, technique that is widely used even today. Lip coloring started to gain some popularity in 16th-century England. During the time of Queen Elizabeth I, bright red lips and a stark white face became fashionable. In the early 1890s, Carmine was mixed with an oil and wax base. The mixture gave a natural look and it was more acceptable among women. From then current lipstick started its journey.
Bobbi Brown Calypso Vs Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick
Now that you know about the history and strength of lipsticks, I want to introduce you to two of my most favorite lipsticks which have become my two best friends in the recent years. The first is Bobby Brown Calypso Lipstick and second is Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick. Although both of them are very dear to me but I am going to do a Bobbi Brown Calypso Vs Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick and see who comes up the winner!!
Bobby Brown Creamy Matt Lip Color – Calypso 8
The Calypso (pink Coral) name is very exotic same as it’s hot pink color. The texture is very creamy and moisturizing. Pink with a matte finish is quite unique which puts it on top of its competitors. Tawny Pink doesn’t have too much blue or too much brown, like other “neutrals” I’ve purchased. The color leaves a pinkish stain on the lips which I like.
It is also highly pigmented and very long lasting. The lipstick stays on for 6-8 hours without any damage. It does not dehydrate the lips, apply a little balm before putting this if your lips are dry. The packaging is quite sexy with its round cylindrical container with a glossy black finish and Bobbi Brown written in white giving it an elegant look. A drawback of the shade is it might not suite on darker complexions but there are plenty of different shades to choose from.
Make Up Forever Rouge Artist Intense 43
The Artist Rouge Intense lipstick is an innovative bold lipstick saturated with pigments and comes in 50 shades. This particular shade is dark red shade with a little satin finish not much shimmering. The color is such that it would be very flattering on almost all skin tones. It instantly adds brightness to the face. This is again very pigmented, extremely smooth and help moisturize the lips. It is also long wearing and stays around 6 hours! The line offers a broad range of reds. You are almost sure to find THE red that compliments your skin tone in this line.
Like all other MUFE products the packaging is very sturdy and stylish. It has also a black shiny packaging with the name written in white almost same as the Bobbi Brown one. A little drawback is the shape of the bullet which does not go easy on the edges. A border with a lip pencil will solve this.
And the Winner is….
Well both the lipstick have totally different shades and finish so Bobbi Brown Calypso Vs Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick is actually not justified for comparison. Both are very good in their own ways. I like the shades of the Rouge intense line of Make Up Forever since they have the satin finish which looks great. It is also a little more creamy than the Bobbi Brown and my lips are never at all dry with it. So to me the winner is Make Up Forever Rouge Intense lipsticks . If you like different shades of red then this is for you because it has awesome collection of red shades.
I hope you liked my Bobbi Brown Calypso Vs Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick review and comparison. If you have used both of them, then let me know which one you liked most. This look a very nice lipstick – i love the colour. I sadly can’t use lipstick as it affect my lips but I still do like the look of it. xx
I love the history tidbit. It’s always good to know things like that.
Apparently the lips flush a darker red during s*x so it’s attractive to a man to see a woman with red lips – hence the lipstick! I love s good bright red and these look like great colours!
I like the color and intensity of both the shades. Wish we would get them here in India, would love to try out

Hmm, That would be hard to choose. I kind of like the Artist Rouge but not sure if it’s the light from the camera, but it has a bit of a shine to it.
I think I prefer Bobby Brown Creamy Matt Lip Color – Calypso 8 because of its creamy and moisturizing texture and its pink shiny color. I’m in love with color lately.
Nice review! I have the rouge artist intense and works great for my skintone and skin texture though. Need to check out the others you mention.

Bobbi Brown fan here. The feel of their makeup on is much less bothersome than most other brands…to me at least.
I love this review. I’m not a fan of lipstick and probably haven’t worn any in over a decade or longer.
I love the shade of the Make up Forever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick as I love red. Not really a fan of other shades.
I am all about my lipstick NOT coming off. I really like knowing that I can apply chapstick to a lipstick and it won’t make it rub off.
Very detailed review. I’m not a makeup person but I’m more familiar with Bobbi Brown so I’d probable go with that.
Can’t go out without my lippies. I might have to try the red one. Hope is stays on for long.
Both the shades seem wonderful. Will need to check them out
sure do neha.
