“Each morning we are born again. What we do Today is what matters most” – Buddha
Hi Loves,
First close your eyes, take a deep breath and exhale slowly. Do it a couple of times more. Do you feel a little refreshed? Can you find a little bit peace in your mind? I try to include meditation as much as I can in my daily routine and peace of mind for some time really throws away all the pressure, fear, anxiety, depression that we can’t avoid in our busy life. Well recently I went to a place where I felt rejuvenation and made a deep dive into a zone of peace and tranquility. The place is Ste. Anne’s Spa in Grafton, Ontario, Canada. Let me share with you the whole experience and show you my small getaway!!
Ste. Anne’s Spa resort
Ste. Anne’s Spa is located on an impressive stone house built in 1858 by Samuel Massey, the grandson of an early pioneer couple. He chose an ideal location for his home—on a plateau overlooking miles of rolling countryside with Lake Ontario on the horizon. After that the building changed hands to many more families like Jane & Keller Families, Blaffer Family, Corcoran Family etc and the building gained new architectural improvements and additions. Let me tell you about the location, it is situated in Grafton, Ontario, just an hour drive from Toronto, Canada. Once you enter the area and drive on the narrow winding roads, you will see it is an untouched place with full nature’s beauty – a place which you can only imagine when you close your eyes.
The main cottage is a huge castle made of large stones with a beautiful lobby, restaurant, boutique, a quiet room, a fitness facility at one side and a fieldstone grotto and steam room on the other. There are 3 small grottos – a hot tub, plunge pool for cooling down after heating up in the hot tub, and a lap pool where you can swim against a current. The experience was breathtaking. A set of bubbling hot water jets hitting your back with smoke rising from the hot water along with fresh open air and sweet sound of chirping of birds was an experience I will remember till my last breath! The Eucalyptus steam room at the end was also a delight. There are message chairs available at the Quiet Room to free you muscles or use the living area with a fireplace to quietly read a book. The boutique has a collection of great misc items with an amazing range of their own skincare products which I going to tell you below.
Accomodation
I stayed the night at one of their spa cottage – Birdsong which is located a kilometer south of the main inn. There are 4 different guest room and ours was Dove at the ground floor. There is a splendid patio balcony at front and a shared kitchen area with a hot jacuzzi outside (I missed the jacuzzi since it was raining the day I went else I had plan to dip at night!)
The room had old Victorian era feeling with large bed with overhead canopy. There was fireplace to heat the room which gave that authentic mid-era feeling!! The bathroom was very cute equipped with all amenities, the best I liked was their organic hand soap bar, I tend to love these cute small details! The surrounding of the cottage is so quite that you can distinguish between the sounds of the birds. Sipping a beer sitting in the outside patio filled with moon light took me into that zone of peace and tranquility which I look for everyday. I slept in minutes laying down on the bed at 1 AM staring at the blazing fireplace.
Dining Experience
In the morning I got into the bathrobe and went for breakfast at the main inn. I forgot to tell you about last night’s dinner. It was full with a delicious appetizer of smoked duck salad and entree of their own homegrown beef in tomato sauce and homegrown veggies. The breakfast was the same – there so many variety of eggs to choose from with home fries and fresh fruits made the perfect start of the day. There was also lunch where I took a curry chicken bowl which awakened my Indian taste buds (lol!) and the variety of deserts were also amazing. Try their cheesecake from their menu or from their small cute bakery, it is one of the best I have tried in ages!! They do not sell liquor yet but you can bring your own wine from home and pair it with the amazing food, I am surely going to take it next time!
Spa Experience
After relaxing my muscles in an yoga class and enjoying the serenity around with heart full cuisine, I finally headed for the spa. I had a signature facial which started with proper cleaning of the feet soaking in hot soap water along with scrubbing. The lady who gave me the spa treatment was Jane Fry, I told her at the end “You are an angel!”. Look for her next time you go. The facial went for 45 min with application of their own skincare products and massage of my face, neck, arms and feet. There was slow recorded sound of birds playing and I closed my eyes to release all my pains, tension and pressure and relaxed to feel the peace and harmony. Their spa treatments are a must if you go and there are a ton of treatments specially created to solve your particular body or mind problems.
Beauty product line
To end the day I finally visited their boutique and they were so kind to offer me their whole product line to try it out. I already fell in love as I learnt how they are prepared, ingredients and how they work on your skin. I have been using the products for 1 week now and I can feel the difference. Their products include: Cleansing Cream, Gel Cleanser, Toner, Hand and Body Deep Hydration, Day Cream, Firming Face Cream, Gommage, Hydrating Mask (base mask), Drench (mineral mask), Soothe (mineral mask) and Clarify (mineral mask), as well as the previously launched hair and body care products: Shampoo, Conditioner, Hand and Body Wash, Hydrating Lotion and Foot Cream. I tried the beauty products and I specially loved the Gommage which make my skin so soft and glowing. As well as their masks are equally amazing makes the skin tight, hydrated with a natural glow. Check them out the next time you go, you will love it.
As the sun started settling I started my journey back to home and looking back at the castle slowly going away, I promised that I will come back soon. The whole experience was such a delight and I enjoyed every moment of it. After running around targets every day, I definitely needed this staycation to hit the reset button and rejuvenate my soul.
