5 Reasons Why Everyone Should Play Online Games
There is a common conception among adults that games are a waste of time and we stop children playing games all the time. Today I am going to talk about playing online games for adults and how it can actually help adults in a lot of ways! While trying out online gaming, I was skeptical too, but having listened to game designer Jane McGonigal’s TED talk about the benefits of gaming, it inspired me.
There are several reasons why everyone should be playing online games. It doesn’t matter if you are young or old, rich or poor, male or female. Everyone in the world can benefit from playing a game. This ongoing pandemic brought a lot of stress in our lives which I was able to survive as I had online games with me. So from my own experience, here are some of the reasons why you should play online games.
5 Reason Why
Environment
The first reason is the environment. Some of the greatest games online take place in virtual areas where you can connect with others from all around the world. It’s a change of pace from the inside-out perspective that we might experience in our daily life. Playing games is a great way to fill life’s vacant moments and to be immersed in a different world.
Relieve Stress
Online games are a great way to unwind after a hard day at work. They’re an effective way to relieve stress and get your mind off of whatever was stressing you out in the first place. Sometimes you just need to get away from the world for a while and that’s exactly what online games offer you
Make New Fiends
Online games are a great way to make new friends who share the interest in common games. When you choose to play a game with other people, you get to meet new people and have new experiences. It might take a little bit to get used to the group environment, and in those moments, you truly find what a great game can create.
Learn Skills
While a lot of people might think games as a waste of time, there are actually a lot of skills are developed if you play games. Some of the skills I saw increased of mine are as follows:
Hand-eye coordination: Playing games improve your hand eye coordination to a great extent. I was really surprised to see how my reactions improved which helped me in real life too.
Team Building and collaboration: I games when play as a team to achieve a particular objective, it helps improve your team building or collaboration skills. This is rally one of most important traits with real life usage and my skills of being a team player went to amazing heights!
Social Skills: Games connect people of varying ages, and provide an opportunity for them to play nicely. Role playing, co-operation and collaboration all promote pro-social behavior. Games can also help bring parents and kids together, having fun and learning from each other, and help communication and understanding. Players develop social relationships with each other while gaming, are often confronted with moral issues and conflict, and frequently need to collaborate to solve difficult problems.
Educational Purpose
Open-ended games allow us to learn at our own pace. Games provide clear goals, give immediate feedback and allow us to take control of our own learning. Avatars allow us to personalize our game experience. Gaming lets us try new things without fear of making blunders. Mistakes are a natural part of the game-learning process. Interactive games can help focus attention and encourage kids to join in.
Memory & Multitasking
In a study from the journal Nature, participants aged 60-85 played a racing game called Neuroracer for 12 hours over a period of time. After one month, participants were able to improve their short-term memory, remembering names, dates, and times. Participants also improved their multitasking performance index at the end of the training period. I have seen considerable improvement myself and really excited about it!
My favorite game website
When it comes to online games, there is literally a LOT of options! I wanted to try a website which is reliable without any virus, have a lot of games to try and covers multiple categories. I found all of these in plays.org. They have hundreds of games which are very interactive, challenging, witty and educational too. The best thing I love about them is they keep on adding new games all the time! To navigate easily and find the best games navigate like I do is scroll to the end and you will see all the categories listed out. Some of my favorite categories there are puzzle, strategy, funny, word and Cowboy (I love cowboys lol!!)
Coming to their games as I mentioned are very challenging and interactive, here are some of my favorite ones:

This is a 6-stage level destruction game inspired by Angry Birds. I am a big fan of both Angry Birds and Walking Dead. Having a great which combines both is hilarious and too much fun to plan. Try it out here directly: https://plays.org/angry-zombies/
TypeShift
TypeShift is a 50-level word spelling puzzle game where players move letter tiles up and down to spell words. I am always in look for new words and love increasing my vocabulary. Castle Light is a 12-level escape game where a jumping knight must light 3 torches to unlock the door and proceed to the next level. So here are from my own experience some benefits of playing online games and this website plays.org literally saved me this pandemic. They took care of my mental health and kept me energized and most importantly helped me not get extremely bored!! Give online games a try if you are not a regular player right now, but I do suggest playing in moderation and not get too attached to it. The way I moderate is set a play time everyday and maintain that no matter how deep in am in a game! That’s it is for today. I will be back soon with a new post very soon.
